So what drives you? What is it that makes you get up every morning and put your two feet on the ground? What makes you keep putting one foot in front of the other? What makes you light up when you talk about it? What makes you smile when you think about it? You may have lots of different answers – children, spouse or partner, parents, a job or business. The possibilities are limitless. Only you know what truly drives you. This driving force can become a passion. When I retired from 30 years of public school teaching, I missed getting up and going to work everyday. I really enjoyed working and decided that I was too young to just sit on my front porch. I went back to school to pursue a dream of becoming a master cosmetologist like my grandmother before me. While pursuing this dream, I decided to start selling Avon Products so that I would have first hand experience and knowledge of skin care, cosmetics, bath & body, nail care, and hair care products. When I was not in school studying cosmetology, I was out with other Avon Representatives and my customers learning as much as I could. I wanted to be the best cosmetologist that I could be. Well, somewhere along the way of pursuing my dream, I fell in love with Avon Products and my customers as well as the other Avon Representatives. Since childhood, I have loved Avon, but the love became a passion when I started selling the products. When I make one of my customers happy or help a fellow Avon Representative, I experience true joy. These days, my passion for my Avon Business is my driving force. So, what drives you? Take some time to think about the answer to this question. You might be pleasantly surprised at the answer.
Beauty for a Purpose” is Avon’s current promotion theme. Everywhere you look on the official Avon websites you will see this login. As an Avon Representative, this login has made me pause and think. What exactly does “Beauty for a Purpose” mean to me? Let’s break it down. What is beauty? A spring day, a child’s smile, a friend’s voice… these are just a few things that come to mind when I think of beauty. It is just not about the physical appearance. Beauty is more than skin deep. My dear Grandmother Mozelle use to say, “Pretty is as pretty does.” In my mind, pretty and beauty are synonyms. So, in my thoughts, beauty is also about behaviors and attitudes. Our behaviors and attitudes can make or break us. It really is a matter of choice. We can choose to keep a positive attitude and give a smile to those that we meet as we pass through this life. It is all about purposeful living. Making those good choices and then making ourselves on act them. Keeping a good attitude even when it feels like the sky is falling. Some folks might look upon this sort of thinking as Pollyanna Thinking. That might be one way of looking at it. However, the difference is this. With purposeful living, you have to be honest with yourself about your life situations and reality. Then, you decide how you are going to look at those life situations and reality. You can permit situations and reality to beat you down. Or, you can pick yourself up and rise above those situations and reality because it might be a matter of adjusting perspective. I can look at those situations and reality as challenges to overcome, like a refining fire that purifies and helps me to become more as a result of the struggles. Finding beauty in life and living a purpose driven life. This is what “Beauty for a Purpose” means to me. To learn more about my company, please visit www.youravon.com/myrareidy.
